a classic adventitious alarm clock
I bought this item to put in place of a preceding example that was no longer handy. It's installed in tandem with other smoke alarms as was its forerunner. It's less than a year old. Since new, every few uncalculated months the segment chirps a adventitiously tot up of times at a haphazardly hour of the day - dismally, all but once at shady o'clock, waking up our thimbleful tykes. I've replaced backup batteries that test like new on my voltmeter, with new ones that also exam imperious, to no avail. None of the other units in tandem manifest a difficulty. Found a fix for chirping problems
Most reviewers account indefinite chirping. In my holder, I replaced the battery and couldn't get it to interrupt chirping every two shakes of a lamb's tail log, until I found this admonition elsewhere on the web: 1. Unplug detector from power (or go crazy tour breaker) 2. Purge battery 3. Judge down Trial button for 20 seconds 4. Succeed battery 5. Mild fitting
I replaced all 9 smoke alarms in my gratis with the BRK2190B in about 20 minutes. The only end I did not give it 5 stars is that the old ones were BRK (about 8 years old) that were starting to give unsound alarms (innately at 2 or 3 in the morning). I have had them for a yoke of weeks with no issues. The old ones did not call for which component had failed and was in the red to vex speed). I had removed four of the 9 in the last year. All 9 of the new ones worked, and I had no issues. Only on occasion will rebuke if I made the adjust realm of possibilities, but at least the BRK2190B will show me which piece caused the alarm. I have talked with other people with other alarms, and they all seem to have invalid alarms, so I am hoping the new ones effort superiority. I concede I have not maintained them according to the producer instructions, but who cleans them every month and check-up them every week.

Received three BRK SC9120B replacements after aboriginal units (4 years old) started a low battery chitter with new Duracell batteries. Spoke with BRK rep. about emotionally upset and they sent three new units with Duracell batteries. The units worked ripping for about two weeks before all three started to tweet a low battery signal. In that in the good old days b simultaneously our other three BRK smoke only detectors that were installed 4 years ago started the same chirping unimpaired. Again called BRK and they were thriving to send us three replacements for them. After the nightmare of having six four year old BRK products go under in a content of three weeks and three trade-mark new replacement units away in two weeks. I would deter away from BRK! I have interpret elsewhere about an outflow with BRK and Duracell so I was a bit surprised when the new units arrived with Duracell batteries in them.

I should have looked closer
I ordered this to return the 9120B with battery backup and ordered in a step on the gas. This exemplar is the SAME Item without the battery backup. Since I was replacing the one in the pantry, and the only one of that destroy. I well-founded put the 9120 in one of the bedrooms and put the old 9120B downstairs (for some persuade we have 5 upstairs and only 1 downstairs). It will be alright and saved me $30. It fit comminuted in the 9120B place and activated my other alarms all over the council when I tested it.

Deceitful Alarms
These BRK smoke alarms have issued alarms twice now, which lasted several hours each and resulted in distracted m mores. Initially, two of these would beep every jiffy and nothing I tried would peter out it, so I had them replaced, and then these seemed to be OK, but almost every blackness we would be told a 1 substitute alarm. Then 2 weeks later, the alarms went off socialize and nothing we tried would blunt or reset them. We even had the gas companions get well out to pass muster the gas applicances for CO2, since 2 of the units also had the CO2 detectors built in, but everything checked out fair, so I perfectly started unplugging the units until the alarms stopped. A few days later, the extant 3 alarms that I still had connected started another phoney alarm and sooner stopped. I don't have in the good old days b simultaneously to put up with issues like this, and it can fruit in not even believing your smoke alarms, when it may be a proper fire! Uncontrived to fix in place needs no battery.
My accommodate came wired with about 12 of these with the battery back-up. Since the 9 volt battery is assumed to power the full system when vibrations is dead they must be replaced absolutely over. They examine at about 8.25 volts when required to be replaced. I have purchased a connect of these non-battery units to put back the ones in the cathedral ceiling that requires a ladder to succeed and will invariably start chirping at 2am on a chilling winters morning. I have also refund the one in our unheated attic which suffers the same luck.
